Unearthed began with a brief to create a ring that felt excavated, weighty, and modern without pastiche.
I carved the form in an unconventional oil clay for lost-wax casting, using its uneven melting to develop a surface of flaking, seemingly translucent layers. The result suggests an object made through an unfamiliar, primitive process. Cast in 24k gold, its purity and weight carry the idea through to the finished ring.
